NV business owner: ‘Big Oil has enough senators, they don’t need more help from Adam Laxalt’
Las Vegas, NV – LCV Victory Fund launched a new $1.5 million TV ad today in opposition to Nevada Senate candidate Adam Laxalt. The ad features Ron, a Nevada business owner struggling with the impact of high gas prices, who is frustrated with Laxalt’s connection to Big Oil. The ad will run on TV in Las Vegas and Reno starting today.

“Adam Laxalt’s cozy relationship with oil companies that are jacking up gas prices for hardworking Nevadans should be disqualifying,” said Joann Saridakis, Campaigns Director, LCV Victory Fund. “Nevadans suffering from extreme heat and struggling to make ends meet deserve better than a climate denier who is in bed with corporate polluters and Donald Trump.”
“While oil and gas corporations are raking in record-breaking profits, hardworking Nevadans are shouldering the consequences of dirty fossil fuel pollution,” said Paul Selberg, Executive Director for Nevada Conservation League. “Rather than having Nevadans’ backs, Adam Laxalt is in the pocket of big oil. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is fighting for clean energy jobs, conservation of our public lands, and continuing the fight against the climate crisis. She’s delivering real results because she works for our state, not Adam Laxalt’s big oil donors.”
Adam Laxalt was recently named to LCV Victory Fund’s signature Dirty Dozen list of the worst anti-environmental candidates for being a climate denier and having significant financial ties to Big Oil. In his failed 2018 gubernatorial run, Laxalt benefitted from more than $2.5 million in outside spending from groups bankrolled by Big Oil. Additionally, Laxalt worked with Trump to try to overturn the 2020 election, continues to perpetuate the Big Lie to this day, says he would investigate the 2020 election if elected to the Senate, and won’t commit to voting to certify hypothetical 2024 presidential election results.
Laxalt is challenging proven climate champion, LCV Action Fund endorsed candidate Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. Sen. Cortez Masto has a 97% LCV score for championing pro-environment policies including strong clean energy and conservation legislation.

“Profits in the Tank”
A business like mine has small margins
This is a working fleet, five trucks, all over 100,000 miles
Every time we fill up, we’re dumping profits into the tank
That’s what burns me up about Adam Laxalt
Big Oil has spent millions in support of his campaigns
And Laxalt spent years at a law firm that represents Big Oil
He pocketed millions working there
Some of us have real jobs, and need someone getting serious about gas prices
Big Oil has enough senators
They don’t need more help from Adam Laxalt
