Progressive Groups Thank Vice President Harris For Historic Presidential Campaign

NEVADA – Today, local groups reacted to Vice President Kamala Harris conceding to President-elect Donald Trump. Vice President Harris overcame substantial adversity during the campaign. She graciously conceded today, which is a testament to her commitment to a peaceful transfer of power and to upholding our democratic values.

Shelbie Swartz, Executive Director of Battle Born Progress, issued the following statement:

“We would like to thank Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz for their work during the campaign. You fought tirelessly for the values we hold dear: justice, equality, and opportunity for all. You have inspired millions to believe that our country can overcome hatred and fear. In a moment when democracy itself felt under siege, you reminded us of its true meaning: power by and for the people, not one individual’s ego. You held Trump accountable, calling out his disregard for democracy, truth, and basic human dignity. With strength and integrity, you fought for our future and the soul of this nation. Your leadership has shown the world what true patriotism looks like. No matter the outcome, you have inspired millions to fight for an America that stands up to tyranny and puts people first. We are deeply grateful for your courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to our shared future.”

Gariety Pruitt, Nevada State Director at For Our Future Action Fund, issued the following statement:

“Today, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Vice President Kamala Harris for a historic campaign and her tireless commitment to all Americans. As a powerful voice for progress, she championed the needs of working families, advocated for affordable healthcare and reproductive freedom, and took a valiant stand for our democracy.

This fight is far from over. We will continue to fiercely advocate for workers’ rights, quality healthcare access, clean energy and a healthy environment, and economic justice for all. Together, we echo the values that Vice President Harris carried during her campaign, ensuring that we fight for an America where every person has the opportunity not just to get by, but to get ahead.”

Leo Murrieta, Executive Director of Make the Road Action Nevada, issued the following statement:

“Today, we honor Vice President Kamala Harris for her resilience and grace during this historic campaign. Despite the outcome, her concession reflects a deep commitment to our democratic values and the peaceful transfer of power.

“Her candidacy inspired millions and championed justice, equity, and opportunity for all. Make the Road Action Nevada stands with her and remains dedicated to fighting for the communities she uplifted. Our work continues to hold the next administration accountable and to build a future where everyone can feel safe.”

Kristee Watson, Executive Director of Nevada Conservation League, issued the following statement:

“We thank Vice President Harris and Gov. Walz for their joyous campaign and for upholding the peaceful transfer of power in the 2024 election, a cornerstone of the democratic values of our nation. We are grateful to those who canvassed, did election protection work, and voted for climate champions this year, up and down the ballot.

Today, we grieve. And we have work to do. Nevada Conservation League knows that democracy is a verb, not a noun. We know that our fight for public lands, good-paying clean energy jobs, accountability for utility monopolies, and clean air and water is a worthy fight.

We know that a better, brighter, more prosperous future for Nevadans is a worthy fight — a fight that we will continue in the next 60 days, during Nevada’s legislative session, during the midterms, and in 2028.”

Taylor Patterson, Executive Director Native Voters Alliance Nevada, issued the following statement:

“Fiercely, determinedly, and tirelessly, we fought from the first vote to the last. Our people rose up, stood in line, and made their voices thunder across this nation. Respecting the will of the people isn’t optional—it’s our collective mandate. And though this chapter ends, our resolve is unbreakable. We will not stop; we will keep fighting for true liberation and lasting justice.”

Kaylyn Kardavani, Executive Director of New Day Nevada, issued the following statement:

“Thank you, Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz for your leadership and commitment to our country. Your service to our country has been an inspiration to millions-  breaking barriers and shattering ceilings with thoughtfulness and determination. Your work to address the challenges facing our nation sets a powerful example for future generations regardless of the election outcome.

The work is never over, and we will continue to build off of the coalition, dialogue, and progress both of you have made in your many years of service.”

Lindsey Harmon, Executive Director, Nevada Advocates for Planned Parenthood Affiliates PAC, issued the following statement:

“Vice President Harris has been a champion for reproductive rights and freedom in a way that no other presidential candidate has been in our nation’s history and for that we are deeply thankful. Her loss presents a critical turning point in the fight for reproductive freedom. The stakes have never been higher, but our resolve has never been stronger. Together, we will continue to fight for reproductive freedom — no matter the obstacles in our path.

Nevada’s history of defending reproductive rights will not be forgotten, and as advocates we will continue to push back against any efforts to undermine reproductive health care access. The resilience of Nevadans and their commitment to safeguarding personal freedoms will be critical in the fights ahead.”
