Administrative Assistant

NCL is hiring an administrative assistant to help provide a well-functioning office and support the administrative work of the organization.

NCL is the political voice of Nevada’s conservation community. We advocate for sound conservation policies, organize and train conservation leaders and advocates, work to increase civic engagement, educate and endorses candidates for public office, and hold elected officials and decision-makers accountable on the conservation and environmental issues we work on; climate, clean air, clean water, protecting our public lands and open spaces, and public health and livability. The NCL family of organizations includes Nevada Conservation League, a 501(c)(4) organization, Nevada Conservation League Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, and Nevada Conservation League Political Action Committee, our political arm that directly helps elect pro-conservation candidates to win office.

Position Summary: The Administrative Assistant works to facilitate the smooth functioning of the administrative functions for the NCL family of organizations. This position works to administer the finances, human resources, and office of the organization while providing planning and logistical support to the board and staff.

Key Responsibilities: This position will assist in bookkeeping and financial reporting— including bill payment, accounts receivable, deposit data entry, provide reports to development staff, work with bookkeeper and account to ensure they have the information they need to effectively manage reporting and taxes. Other bookkeeping duties depend upon experience.  Ensure an effective office environment, including maintaining a central filing system (online document storage), stocking organizational supplies, and maintaining office machinery. Support the human resources of the organization including administering payroll and benefits packages. This position will provide logistical support to the staff and Boards and support the programmatic, cultural, and organizational development work of the organization.

Qualifications: We are looking for an individual who is efficient and comfortable being a member of a team and has the ability to multi-task, while maintaining complex schedules and managing administrative support, is essential in this position. The ideal candidate for this job is resourceful, has knowledge and experience with basic bookkeeping and financial management, knows how to keep an office running, has worked with vendors and service providers, is a good problem solver and well organized. Experience with QuickBooks, ADP, and Drobox are pluses and proficiency in Microsoft and Google products is valued.

Salary and Compensation: Salary range is $35,000 – $45,000 depending on qualifications and experience. The salary is accompanied by benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, and paid time off.

Job Status: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The Administrative Assistant will report to the Executive Director

Working Conditions: This position is based in Las Vegas, NV with some ability to work from home or outside the office. Work is typically performed in an office environment while sitting at a computer screen for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts when working with office machines.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms when working with documents, files, computers, or office machines. This position requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions, exposure to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable. Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people. Reliable transportation is required. Some evening and weekend hours are required and during some periods, we will work more than 40 hours per week. There will be occasional travel within Nevada and in the United States. There will be some lifting and moving of boxes, equipment, and furniture required.
