NEVADA— Senator Rosen has been re-elected to the United States Senate. Rosen’s challenger, Sam Brown, previously ran in 2021 but did not make it through the primary. Brown’s lack of support for reproductive rights likely impacted his chances, with Nevadans overwhelmingly supporting access to reproductive care. Local groups reacted to the news of Rosen winning below.
Shelbie Swartz, Executive Director, issued the following statement:
“Nevadans know that Senator Jacky Rosen fights for us. From supporting clean energy jobs to the child tax credit, Rosen prioritized improving Nevadans’ material conditions during her first term. Today is a victory for Nevada, with Senator Rosen elected to a second term. Her Trump-backed opponent, Sam ‘Scam’ Brown, incorrectly claimed that higher prices are the result of Washington policies despite evidence of price gouging over the past three years. Brown had no serious plans to bring costs down for Nevadans. Despite the difficult losses we have seen in Nevada and across the country, today we will celebrate Senator Rosen’s victory.”
Manuel Santamaria, State Director of Mi Familia Vota, issued the following statement:
“Senator Jacky Rosen has always stood for all Nevadans and we are happy to congratulate her on winning this race. Sam Brown held positions that would have been harmful to Latinos at large and women specifically. Sam Brown tried to cover his stances by running behind his wife but Nevadans saw through the smoke. Senator Jacky Rosen will continue to represent the state well and we look forward to supporting her efforts in DC.”
André C. Wade, State Director, Silver State Equality, issued the following statement:
“Silver State Equality is thrilled that Nevada voters have chosen to return Senator Jacky Rosen to the U.S. Senate. Through her relentless attention to Nevada’s interests and practical approach to legislating, she has delivered significant results for Nevadans on a bipartisan basis and has proven herself as an ardent champion of equality and reproductive freedom. As a powerful voice for the LGBTQ+ community, Rosen has successfully fought against anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and worked to make the Respect for Marriage Act become law in addition to other pro-equality initiatives. Time and time again, she shows up for the LGBTQ+ community and all Nevadans.”
Gariety Pruitt, Nevada State Director at For Our Future Action Fund, issued the following statement:
“We wholeheartedly congratulate Senator Jacky Rosen on her re-election. Her win is a testament to her commitment to Nevada’s working families. Nevadans chose a leader who has fought tirelessly for families, small businesses, and underrepresented communities with a proven track record of expanding Nevadans’ access to affordable healthcare as well as lowering prescription drug costs, improving our infrastructure, investing in clean energy, and standing up for unions.
This race for the U.S. Senate has been very tight and serves as a powerful reminder that every single vote truly counts. Nevada’s rigorous and trusted election process ensures that all valid ballots are counted and gives voters a chance to cure ballots when needed, bolstering the trustworthiness of our democracy and reinforcing the value of each vote.
We look forward to working with Senator Rosen as she champions a brighter future for the Silver State.”
Kristee Watson, Nevada Conservation League, Executive Director, issued the following statement:
“Nevada Conservation League celebrates Senator Rosen’s re-election and thanks the Nevada voters who cast their ballot for a more hopeful and more prosperous future. Senator Rosen is a climate champion who supports Nevada’s clean energy economy through and through. She voted for the Clean Energy Plan, securing $14.5 billion in investment and over 20,000 new clean energy jobs for our state. Her victory signals that we will continue to have a strong advocate in the Senate to fight for good-paying jobs and historic clean energy investments to boost Nevada’s economy, and she’ll defend and protect climate policy, as her track record shows. She’s passed legislation for extreme heat, droughts, water conservation, wildfires, and air pollution. Senator Rosen has continuously fought for Nevadans, and we are thrilled to celebrate her win and what that means for Nevada’s future.”
